A Continuing Education Calendar can be found on CLRC's web site. It is updated continually.

For more information about continuing education opportunities at CLRC, contact Nancy Howe.

Legislative Advocacy Return to the top of the CLRC Membership List

CLRC's advocacy objective is to educate librarians and library assistants in effective advocacy skills to use on behalf of their libraries, and to keep them informed regarding the status of legislation affecting their library's ability to serve their patrons.

CLRC's Legislative Committee assists staff in developing activities and projects that further these ends. These include hosting several annual "legislative breakfasts," organizing an annual bus trip to Albany on Library Legislative Day (the Dan Casey/Ken Wilbur Express), arranging local visits to legislators' offices, and publishing such helpful guides as the Library Advocate's Tool Kit.

CLRC also works closely with the New York Library Association's Legislative Committee in promoting statewide legislative goals for libraries of all types. For additional information about CLRC's legislative advocacy program, contact Nancy Howe.

Towpath: CLRC's Virtual
Online Regional Catalog Return to the top of the CLRC Membership List

In the Fall of 2003, CLRC unveiled the newly updated online regional union catalog - Towpath. Named by Nancy Furry of the Erie Canal Museum, Towpath represents two things shared by the entire CLRC community: great resources and the Erie Canal.

Search Towpath. Here you will find the library catalogs of 45 CLRC member libraries and library systems. You can search one, many, or all catalogs for one stop shopping of library materials in Central New York. You can search by keyword, title, or author in both a basic and advanced search mode. For those libraries with Z39.50 capabilities you can also see if the item is available for loan. We encourage all our members to use Towpath when they're looking for materials for their patrons.

Contact the Technical Services & training Manager if you have any questions or suggestions regarding Towpath. CLRC periodically offers training, at CLRC headquarters, on how to use Towpath. If you would like to have the Technical Services & Training Manager come to your facility to demonstrate Towpath please contact CLRC.
