CLRC Consortial Database Purchases
CLRC works with database vendors and consolidators to offer many electronic resources to libraries in the Central New York Region. Some database subscriptions are supported in full or in part by grants through CLRC. Other databases are offered to subscribing libraries at reduced rates through these regional or statewide contracts. The following vendors offer many titles from a variety of database publishers for any CLRC member library or member of a school or public library system which is a member of CLRC.

- 3Rs / WALDO Partnership
CLRC, through its partnership with WALDO, offers databases and electronic services at a reduced cost to libraries in the Central New York Region. Database listings are customized for Academic, Public, Hospital and K-12 libraries. Some databases are also available to corporate and other special libraries on an individual quote basis. - NOVEL
NOVEL (New York Online Virtual Electronic Library) provides the citizens of New York State with free online access to full-text articles, books and newspapers. NOVEL is funded by the federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) program through the New York State Library. Any library in New York State which is a member of a New York State library system, including CLRC, may directly register to offer access to the NOVEL databases for their customers.
The databases include information for business, health and medicine, general science, history, and general information newspapers and journals. The current list of available databases can be found at the New York State Library NOVEL web site. Use the web site to find out more about registration, statistics, and frequently asked questions.
The NOVEL Help Desk toll-free phone number is 877/277-0250. The phone is staffed by New York State Library database specialists, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Help Desk can also be contacted by email.
- Encyclopedia Britannica
Britannica Online is available to all public, school, academic, and non-profit libraries.
Other products available from Britannica include Britannica Online School Edition, Britannica's Original Sources, Annals of American History Online, Enciclopedia Universal en Espanol, Webster's Third New International Dictionary Unabridged Online, and World Data Analyst.

- FirstSearch Base Package with Wilson Select Plus
FirstSearch is available free for any library in a system in the Central New York Region. FirstSearch is supported through a CLRC Regional Automation Grant. The "Route 13" FirstSearch subscription also includes libraries in th e Southeastern and South Central regions. The FirstSearch databases include WorldCat, and other OCLC databases such as ArticleFirst, ContentsFirst, NetFirst, PapersFirst, ProceedingsFirst, and Union Lists of Serials. Other useful citation databases include ERIC, GPO, and Medline. Citations and full text articles are available from 1400 journals in Wilson Select Plus.

- Newsbank
Access to the backfiles of local newspapers is available at a subsidized price for any CLRC member library or member of a school or public library system which is a member of CLRC. The subsidy comes from a Regional Automation Grant. The newspapers included in this subscription include the Syracuse Post Standard (and Herald American and Herald Journal), 1986- , the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, 1999-, and The Utica Observer / Dispatch, 1999-. - Nylink
Full OCLC members should order the databases directly through NYLINK. If your library is not a full member of Nylink (this includes GAC members), the library may subscribe to a single database offered through Coop through the Council. Nylink would bill CLRC directly and then we will bill the library. Libraries may also join the Cooperative Purchasing Program for $250.00 annually (in addition to fees for electronic resources). - NY OGS - New York Office of General Services
Some databases are offered on "New York State Contract." For each vendor, price lists are included with the advice "prices outlined are maximum not to exceed prices. Contract users are encouraged to negotiate best and fin al pricing. Contract users should also note the volume aggregate discounts that apply to these contracts are listed in the terms and conditions document."
The general terms in the Terms, Conditions, and License Agreement will apply to all of the contracts listed. You can find links to the contracts for specific vendors in the Electronic Online Database Services section.
For each vendor, the following information is summarized: Title, Contract Period, Group, Award No., Contract Type, Use of Contracts, Procurement Officer, Date of Issue, Date of Last Update, Description.
